My CD com and DVD player on PC are intermittently disappearing?

Could be several things. Anything from a virus infection to both drives failing (it happens), a failing power supply to a corruption of Windows. In all honesty, the list of possible causes is too long to try to cover here, and the troubleshooting will take a while. My recommendation is take it to a computer shop.
